District 6 neighborhoods are celebrating some long-awaited attention. Our neighborhoods and our people are what makes Hollywood a special place. Parts of Beverly Park will soon enjoy nearly five miles of new sidewalks, where none had existed before. Washington Park will see significant changes to the industrial park with the replacement of 167 septic tanks, new sewer, new potable water lines and a new storm water drainage system. This $27 million investment will open new possibilities for this area. Hillcrest residents will see the installation of new exercise equipment at Zinkil Park and thanks to our State Representative, Marie Woodson, Hillcresters and Beverly Hills residents will soon enjoy a beautiful meditative sculpture installed at Butterworth Park.
Hollywood Hills and Park East will see construction begin on the new state of the art police station. Park East, Park View and Hillcrest will see the transformation of their neighboring Orangebrook Golf Course to feature not only golf, but public access to wondrous nature within an urban environment. The entire city will soon see new gateway and neighborhood signs. These signs will strengthen our identity and our sense of place.
The rebirth and re-branding of State Road 7, now known as “The Seven” (La Siete), will be prominently and proudly displayed on the new signs. My focus is on diversifying and amplifying the offerings this important part of our District has for our city’s residents and visitors. Whether you are new to Hollywood or a long-time resident, get to know our city’s rich tapestry of neighborhoods, each of them a treasure.
Beyond all these much-needed physical improvements to District 6, I want to invite you to participate in the Community Connectors District 6 Initiative. This initiative highlights the gifts that each person can give and receive by connecting to others and the value those connections can bring to our shared community. For more information, write to conectoreshollywoodfl@gmail.com. I am proud to represent this beautiful, evolving community, and I look forward to continuing to work with you to make our home better than ever.
