Big Medicare changes in 2025 will prompt Floridians to carefully review plans. The 5.1 million eligible Floridians have from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 to choose original Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan. Changes include a $2,000 cap on Part D drug costs, a payment plan for expensive meds, and potential adjustments to Medicare Advantage benefits.
While some insurers will offer fewer Advantage plans, 21 more will be available in Florida for 2025. Premiums will drop 6.7%, but plans may have fewer supplemental benefits, higher drug deductibles, and higher out-of-pocket caps.
Seniors are advised to review coverage closely, as some plans will drop providers or change benefits. Fewer plans will offer perks like fitness memberships and non-emergency transport. Beneficiaries should check doctor networks and out-of-pocket costs to ensure coverage suits their needs.
Mid-year statements in July will highlight unused benefits. Recipients are urged to read their annual notices to understand changes for 2025.
